Hi I’m Rinad ,
and I want you to know You are not alone
I’ve been on a journey of faith and healing for the past twenty years, battling cancer nine times (yes! Nine!), lung disease, and heart failure.
Faith is not for the weak of heart or spirit. It takes strength to believe what you are experiencing – the pain, the heartache, the struggle – can have meaning in your life. My journey has taken me around the world and seen me close to death more times than I want to think about.
I don’t think I have all the answers, but I’d like to share with you what I’ve learned over the last two decades. Maybe it will help you find the right questions to ask. What I hope, however, is that it shows you are not alone.
My Book
How do you cope when tragedy comes calling?
Having just graduated from college, Rinad Bsharat was enjoying a summer of European adventure before buckling down to start law school in the fall. Like most twenty-somethings, she believed she was invincible.
Until she was forced to face reality.
At twenty-three, Rinad was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, a supposedly easy form of cancer to treat and cure. Never one to run from a challenge, Rinad started chemo and law school in the same week.
What followed was a journey of more than eighteen years. From traditional Western medicine to more “New Age” methods in rural Mexico, Rinad traveled North America looking for her promised cure. But she was really looking for much more—a reason to keep fighting.
In this incredible memoir, Rinad recalls how she was told many times to prepare for death, but each time, she beat the odds. Along the way, she allows herself to ask—and explore—the difficult question that challenges her beliefs in herself and her faith: Why me? With each remission, she is reborn stronger and comes to see this realization as a different type of cure than she initially sought, finding peace in the healing of her heart from a sense of purpose and everlasting love. Now, she shares with all of us her efforts to discover what it means to have hope.
